Scroll bars (also demonstrates night vision mode)
The sky chart is surrounded by four scrollbars.
From the top moving clockwise, they function as follows:
- Rotation - Sliding this scroll bar rotates the chart about the
center. This is useful for aligning the chart with your camera or
head at the eyepiece. The arrows at the end rotate a
small amount, the trough areas somewhat larger. Rotation may
be locked to automatically align with your local vertical in the
Options menu. Moving the
rotation scroll bar manually with the stylus will turn off this option.
- Dec - Sliding this bar changes the declination at the center
of the chart. Grabbing and sliding the thumb allows direct control
from the full range of -90 to +90 degrees. Tapping the arrows at the end
will move by a small fraction of the current field size, the troughs
by somewhat more but always less than a full field.
- RA - Similar to Declination (see previous) but for right
ascension.
- FOV - Sliding this scale zooms the field of view in or out.
The thumb moves from a full 180 degrees at the bottom down to an arc
minute at the top. Tapping on the arrows and troughs zoom by a small
fraction or a larger fraction of the current field size. A sensible
limiting magnitude is maintained automatically as the field of view
is changed.
