File -> Search

Displays a dialog with which you may search all loaded catalogs for an object by name, then zoom the display to show it nicely centered. The limiting magnitude will be increased if necessary to insure the object will be visible.

Names may be simple text or a pattern describing the name to be found. Simple names ignore case and spaces and will run about 3x faster than pattern searches. Patterns do not ignore spaces and, by definition, are any searches that use one or more of these special characters:

• ? replaces any one single character
• * replaces any number of characters, including zero
• [xyz] replaces one occurrence of any one of the bracketed list of characters, in this example x y or z.

Tap Next to start searching, picking up where the last search ended, if any. Tap Zoom to center the object. Tap either X or OK to dismiss the dialog box with no further action.
